How to use Velnoryx™
Read this before you ever need it. Practice the motion with the trainer or with a spare device so your hands know what to do under pressure.
The device, at a glance
Single-dose, non-refillable, for intranasal use only.
- 1
Recognize the reaction
Trouble breathing, swelling in the lips, tongue or throat, hives spreading fast, a racing heart, feeling faint or suddenly very unwell after a known trigger. Don't wait to see if it passes.
- 2
Take the spray out of its case
Hold it with your thumb on the bottom and two fingers on either side of the tip.
- 3
Put the tip in one nostril
Insert it until your fingers touch the bottom of the nose. You don't need to breathe in.
- 4
Press firmly with your thumb
One press gives the full dose. The device is now empty — don't try it again.
- 5
Call 911
Say that epinephrine was given for a severe allergic reaction. Stay with the person and keep them lying down with legs raised unless they're having trouble breathing or vomiting.
- 6
Second dose if needed
If symptoms don't improve or come back, use a new Velnoryx™ in the same nostril at least 10 minutes after the first dose.
Every dose is followed by emergency care
Everyday habits that matter
- Follow your healthcare provider's instructions and the patient leaflet — don't change how you use it on your own.
- Keep both sprays together in their original case so you never reach for a single one.
- Tell teachers, coaches, coworkers and family where your sprays are and how to use them.
- Replace a used device the same day, and check the expiration date on a set schedule.

Directions for using Velnoryx
Use it at the first sign of a reaction
Velnoryx is a rescue medicine, not something you take on a schedule. Don't wait to see whether symptoms settle down on their own — the sooner epinephrine goes in, the better the outcome.
Carry two, always
One dose isn't always enough. If symptoms stick around or come back, the second dose needs a brand-new device in the same nostril, at least 10 minutes after the first.
One device, one dose
Each Velnoryx is single-use, non-refillable, and for the nose only. Never test-spray it to practice, and never reuse a device you've already fired.
Call 911 after every use
Using Velnoryx buys time; it doesn't end the reaction. Get emergency medical attention afterward even if you feel completely fine.
Keep it within reach
Keep both devices with you — not in a hot car, not in a checked bag. Check the expiration date now and then, and replace it before it lapses.
Tell the people around you
Family, friends, teachers, coaches, and coworkers should know you carry it, where it is, and how to use it if you can't.

What to expect after a dose
Epinephrine works fast, and you feel it working. Most of what people notice comes from the medicine doing its job, and it eases off. None of it is a reason to hold back on using Velnoryx™ during a severe reaction.
